Breathwork

Conscious Connected Breathing

Therapeutic Breathwork, or Conscious Connected Breathing is a practice that facilitates profound change. Through the practice of Breathwork, we integrate the physical, spiritual and emotional parts of ourselves. By listening to the body’s narrative, we can begin to heal.

This style of breathing is akin to holotropic breathwork; holotropic meaning “moving towards wholeness”. It is an active meditation, with the breath, that brings us into an expanded state of consciousness. This practice is held by musical accompaniment that supports the experience. Therapeutic Breathwork is a powerful tool for self exploration. As we navigate the emotional, physical, and energetic bodies, we allow what may be buried to arise, and be processed in a supportive container.

Breathwork is a powerful and accessible tool for those of us who struggle with anxiety, stress, depression, substance use, pain, grief, trauma, insomnia, and other challenges. It is also a great tool for cultivating self-love and empowerment. Breathwork transforms many lives, as it has my own.

I remind folks of three things in breathwork:

1. Always stay present with the breath. Observe the inhales and exhales.

2. Trust the process.

3. Surrender, surrender, surrender! Pain + Resistance = Suffering

Preparing for Your Session

Preparation

This process can be slightly dehydrating, so drink some water before (not too much that you’ll have to pee during the session) and lots of water after. Wear something comfy, that you won't feel any restriction in.

Post Session

Allow yourself some time post-session to slowly transition back into your world. If you can take the rest of the day to be with yourself, that’s great. I highly recommend to walk, bathe, eat nourishing food, connect with a friend, or find space alone, write, create art, whatever helps you to relax and integrate.
